27

Twenty seven. Modified something I wrote about 4 years back. Here’s a recap.

27 years ago today my mother's water broke at 5 am. Not only did I give her a hard time, but I almost died. In fact, I was absolutely silent when I was born at 12.30 pm that my grandmother thought my mom and I were dead. Because I was only due 3 days later, my father was not by our side when I was born.

26 years ago today, I was in Sandakan. I remember I looked very mischevious in my photo. Standing up on a baby chair looking as though I was going to smash up the cake. I have no real memory of this.

25 years ago today, I was dressed up in my Yellow Osh Kosh Bgosh overalls. This was also the day I got drunk on 2 cans of beer (perhaps more) and probably damaged my brain cells.

24 years ago today, I had a quiet birthday party at home. I remember going to Hyatt Hotel with my mother to pick up my cake.

23 years ago today, I had a barbeque party in my backyard. I remember there were no children only adults. I received 2 masak-masak sets, one blue-white, one pink-white. It was the top item on my wish list then.

22 years ago today, I celebrated a quiet birthday in Kundasang with my parents. My father drove all the way to KK to buy me a pair of binoculars and a Donald Duck cake. I didn't like Donald Duck, I don't remember why he bought a Donald Duck cake. Later in the evening, Uncle Ah Tong came up, and gave me a train set for my present.

21 years ago today, I celebrated my birthday with Chris & Melissa in KK. I was about to start standard 1. The butter cake with royal icing Aunty June made was yummilicious.

20 years ago today, my birthday party was at my mom's sister's house. I didn't know most of the guests because they were mostly my Aunty's friends and neighbours. I received many presents from strangers that day. I had a cake with a picture of Mickey Mouse on it.

19 years ago today, I had my birthday party in KFC. This time, it was all children and for the first time I invited my classmates to my party. I was wearing a white top and red and white polka dot skirt and a pair of pigtails. We played musical chairs, Simple Simon Says & Statue Dance.

18 years ago today, we didn't have any money but somehow my father made me a birthday party. Perhaps to me, birthday celebrations was mandatory and it didn't matter how you did it, but it has to be done. Maybe because it was a hard year for all of us and it wouldn't hurt much to make me feel special for only one day. I remember my dad borrowed a car (piece of junk) from someone to pick up my friends, and my cake. It was simple but everyone was happy that day. And I wore a really ugly dress which Aunty Connie gave me. I don't remember wearing it ever again.

17 years ago today, I had a barbeque at the Snail Farm by the beach in Lok Kawi. I remember my White Chocolate Cake from the Yaohan Bakery was damn delicious. I also remember crying, but I don't remember why.

16 years ago today, I had a quiet lunch at home with only all my best friends from school, Diana, Sakinah, Madziatul and Norhafifah. I don't remember if there was another person present. I wore a navy blue T-shirt with Mickey & Minnie Mouse on it. And received a Jungle Book Jigsaw Puzzle from my father.

15 years ago today, it rained cats and dogs on my birthday. I had just started Form 1 in a new school but hardly knew anybody. 3 of my new classmates invited themselves to my party when they saw me passing an invitation card to my then best friend Sakinah. Only 2 of them turned up though. Melanie made a grand entrance with her famous line "Now where's the food?" and stuffed herself silly. She couldn't bend down to put on her shoes when she was going home. Deirdre, fell in love with my father's lamb curry and is now my best friend.

14 years ago today, I invited only my classmates to my birthday. I remember crying, and again, I don't remember why. I think I cry a lot on my birthdays to make up for the time I didn't when I was born. Oh yes, my former best friend Diana came wearing a skirt, long sleeved shirt and boots while the rest of us was clad in T-shirts and shorts. It was weird being reunited with your primary school best friend even though we've only been separated for a year. We drifted apart (totally) after that. She never showed up at my following parties because she chose to attend New Year parties with her new friends.

13 years ago today...Hrm I don't really remember. Oh yes, it was the time I wore a white BUM Equipment T-shirt and jeans. The theme song for this Party was Radiohead's Creep. I think we spent most of the time lying on my shiny wooden floor playing Radiohead songs.

12 years ago today, I received my PMR results. Most of my friends also scored 7As so it was sort of like a double celebration. Joanne ate like 2 1/2 plates (full) of my father's spaghetti.

11 years ago today, I turned 16. I went back to KK to celebrate it with my friends as requested. And I was made to wear a white dress which they bought for me. My father commented that 2 of my net friends which I had to invite were the ugliest boys he has ever seen. I cannot help but agree. I have plenty of weirdo friends. Oh and I also remember several uninvited guests crashing my party. One of them tried to make a pass at my mother whom he thought was my cousin. Ha ha ha.

10 years ago today, I had just completed my SPM and I flew back to KK to spend a couple of days with my friends. I booked a room at Promenade and Deirdre stayed with me. The day I arrived, my friends brought me clubbing, and it wasn't exactly a nice experience. And half the time I was worried my parents would find out where I went because my dad was also in KK that time. I had my birthday lunch at Pizza Hut and then when we walked to the cinema at night to catch a movie, I remember that the cinema was CLOSED. I think it was a Wednesday night then. Nowadays, Wednesday nights and when the cinema was most packed. And I somehow felt depressed again that night and cried. Shit, what is it with me and crying on my birthday? :)

9 years ago today, I went to KLCC on my birthday with D. I had a horrible lunch because the chicken chop was full of skin and fats. So much for turning 18.

8 years ago today, I was in Labuan. It was the year I was supposed to be in RCSI, Dublin but I couldn't make it due to financial situation. I went out for lunch with my friend Effa, who gave me a bottle of Baby Perfume. Dinner was also great we had barbequed spring chicken, mashed potato and salad. I got a Furby from D. I still have the Furby in KK. It's green in colour and I don't remember his name.

7 years ago today, I turned 20. It was a difficult year for me. I managed to go out to midvalley to meet Deirdre so I can have pasta and actually get out of the house. She commented how skinny I was because my t shirt and jeans were really loose and my tummy was not only flat, it was sunken in. I also met my then crush Rudy that day because he came by to return my CD. I guess that was the highlight of my day, seeing him for 2 minutes. hehe.

6 years ago today, I was in KK. I took my parents to Little Italy for dinner. It was a quiet 21, I didn't receive any presents that year.

5 years ago today, I was working. I went to baskin robbins after dinner to get a pint of ice cream at 31% discount. They got me a cake from Secret Recipe. I was pretty broke by then, and I was grateful for the ang pows I got from the aunties.

4 years ago today I woke up early, and my grandma was frying salted fish with the kitchen windows still shut and didn't turn on the ventilation machine. I left the house at 7 to open the factory.

3 years ago today, I was on leave and was bumming the day away at my parents’ place at Desa Pandan. At around 9PM I received a call from Uncle Seb asking me to open my apartment door. There was a bunch of people outside, with a cake, singing and even Uncle Steven playing the guitar. What a lovely surprise :)

2 years ago today, I bummed the day away *again* and was watching Saddam Hussein’s execution on CNN. That was probably the highlight of my day. Shiet. Lol
Last year, went to Malacca with E, EK, K and a couple of K’s friends. Stayed at the company’s A Famosa vacation home. It involved a lot of eating following by a drinking session at Pure bar (kononly the hottest spot in Malacca town). Yea right, I was dressed in t shirt, shorts and flip flops while being fed beer. Even got a song dedication at midnight from the pondan band that was playing that night. I still remember the song was Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston. Many many beers later, I found myself throwing up at several spots in Malacca J

This year, I will probably be bumming a bit and spend the rest of the day with my family.

Another year has passed. Happy birthday to me :)

Been too lazy to blog. Don't have much to say really. In fact have been super lazy to do just about anything.
Wondering where all the time went. 3 more days left of the year. It's been a roller coaster ride, yet am not ready to move onto the new year. Looking back, I'm not sure what I've achieved this year. I have also been guilty of wishing time away. Especially during those 3 months, waiting and just wishing that time would wash all the pain away.
But tomorrow might be good. Or something.

Last day :D

Doesn't feel like my last day here, since it all happened oh so soon! I don't even know what else to handover, hee. Everything is in good hands :) Backing up files and oh boy so much junk to delete! :)
So while I was checking out results for Americal Idol (David Vs David finale, yeay!) And then hopped over to the newspaper. Don't know what's wrong with the world today. Yeee! And? EEEEEEEEE. Sigh. I will give up reading the papers for yet another week.

Ah. My squeee-ful (and sometimes not so squeee-ful workstation). I wonder what my new place looks like. hee :)
